Carnival Party!!!

Ok, this cake was really fun to make! We found the candy stick poles at the dollar store and that became the inspiration for the cake.  The base was just a yellow cake. We covered a paper towel roll in foil and stuck it in the middle of the cake.  That gave the look of a mirror.  Kindof like what you see on a carousel. We attached a foil covered piece of circular card board on top of the foil roll.  That became the stand for the top of the cake.  We made the top out of rice crispy treats.  Covered the whole thing in butter cream frosting.  Then placed coloured Nilla wafer cookies around the top. Then we placed the candy sticks around to be the poles on the carousel. Yummy for the kids!

For the carnival we decorated the back yard with a variety of stations...pie eating station, balloon animals station...etc.  Here are some of the different booths we had....Bean bag toss.  Made from an old cardboard box.  We cut holes in it and painted it. Pop a balloon booth.

We did a fishing game over the fence. They got a variety of prizes...

One booth was just buying treats!  Each child had gotten so many tickets at the beginning of the party, so that's what they used to buy things and go to each booth!
We also did a magic show.  That was free.  We gave each guest a bag of pop corn as they watched the show.  It was put on by a child.  Simple tricks, simple fun!  The kids loved it!

 Animal balloons....
 Pie eating contest....
Tug of War..... the boys really liked that one!
Races....pillow sack race and three legged race...
Here's the ticket booth we made out of wrapping paper rolls, cardboard boxes and poster board.  We made homemade carnival tickets out of construction paper!  All disposable when the party is over.  We had a water fight at the end too, so most the stuff needed to be thrown right out anyway!
