Decoration ideas for a party like this are endless. Here are some we did. We printed out posters using "dafont" poke mon fonts. Also color pages of poke mon. We colored poke mon faces on balloons. EASY!!!
We made chain garland out of construction paper from the dollar store. We made a voltorb and electrode out of poster board and markers. I didn't know much about pokemon before we did this party. The fun in doing parties is bonding with your kids. They teach you all about their favourite things. Get the kids involved!
That's where the joy is!
Party favors were fun. We put one pokemon card in each bag. Then we found these gummie rings that look like pokeballs! Cool!
We also made Pichu Brother hats out of yellow construction paper. Easy and very festive!
While we waited for the guests to arrive, we played tag,, or "I choose You!" with my son's new "crochet" poke ball from famous Aunt Rachel!! It was soooo awesome! They loved it!
I love this photo. It was not posed! Ha!
First activity was Poke'Mon catching! We passed each guest a grab bag that had 3 poke'mon cards in it. They were all random cards. We played the LEFT and RIGHT game and passed around the bags. At the end of the game, whichever bag you were "left" with was the bag you kept, and those were the poke'mon you caught! If you don't know the left and right game, send me a message or comment. The game was hilarious! Then we did poke'mon training.
We had a few types. Depends on how long you want the party. We did a 2 hour party! Summer time fun!
1. Grass type: vine whip game. they had to avoid the vine whip!
2. Steel type: played a magnetic game with magnet sticks. You could only pick up certain colours! The kids really liked this game!
3. Flying type: We played a "Tailow" gust game. We made a fan out of poster board and fanned the styrofoam cups. Tried to blow down as many as possible in 5 seconds. The cups had cut outs of pokemon on each cup, so it was as if Tailow was battling them.
4. Electric type: We played 2 games for this. The first was taking a yellow "pikachu" balloon and creating static. We tried to get the balloons to stick to the wall!
Then the voltorb/electrode game. We threw red balloons off our patio balcony to the kids and they had to keep them from touching the ground. If they touched, you had to pop them, like a bomb!
Then came the Poke'Mon Battling!!!! We paired up and battled with our poke'mon cards! It was so fun! We finished with cupcakes and presents!
The cupcakes are featured on the blog under "poke'mon cupcakes".
